so I go onto this department store website and they ask if I’m ok with answering their survey when I’m done, to give them feedback about using their website – cool, I think, and on the whole it wasn’t too painful, but… one question was asking about my use of other (competing) websites, stuff like [...]

Taking things for granted
When I was a kid, my mother used to make me clothes. I hated that – because what I wanted was to have new clothes with the trendy labels that would earn me coolness points at school. What size fortune would I have to pay now if I wanted clothes made to measure? I had [...]
Yes, I’ve changed themes again.
It’s just a matter of perspective
It all started from talking about Chinese New Year, how it’s a lunar calendar so their new year falls on a different date each year according to the Gregorian calendar, and I said, oh yes, it’s the same with us, the Jewish year is lunar too, and the Chinese lady said that in Hong Kong they have calendars showing both dates and I said, oh yes, we do that in Israel, we have calendars showing the Hebrew date as well as the other one and then, later on, one of the English people said to me:
So is Jewish New Year a moveable feast?
No, I said, as I always tell people: Jewish New Year is on the same date every year, on the first day of the month of Tishrei. It may look to you as though it moves, but that’s because you’re using a different calendar, that’s all.

Me and Sam – a journey
Sam the camera came into my life in May 2010 and changed it in ways that I could never have imagined. All I knew was that changing over to digital would mean I could post pictures online without having to wait till I finished a film and got it developed, and my friends would stop [...]
Sabbath
Taking a day (or a chunk of time) off and resting means, amongst other things, that I acknowledge it’s not up to me to keep the world going.
When I say I’m struggling, that’s MY problem
Sometimes I blog about stuff I’m struggling with. I’ve written about struggling with depression, with insomnia, with time management issues, etc. Why do I blog about these things? I do it for two main reasons: to get it off my chest, and to bring it into the light. Bringing it into the light serves two purposes: [...]
Finding stuff I’d lost
It’s over two years since I finished the counselling course and I’m still finding stuff that I’d lost back then. I had no idea what that course would cost me, and am still finding out. Continue reading
I’ve gone back to work on my novel
Have restarted working on my novel, which has been gathering virtual dust for over four years. I’ll be posting it bit by bit on my virtual writer’s notebook. Unedited – editing is for later. If you’d like to join me on this journey and read the rough draft as it develops, here’s a link to [...]
